BAIROOHA FOUNDATION

BAIROOHA FOUNDATION is an idea inspired by a group of compassionate youngsters, who wanted to help the underprivileged in their own humble way and to be a source of happiness for them. The organisation started its activities in the year of 2015 based in Thalassery of Kannur district, Kerala. Since its launching Bairooha has been involved in various charity and community development initiatives. Its candid activities are spread across the areas of health, education, relief for destitute and homeless and especially support for improving public health infrastructures.

Bairooha is directly offering assistance for treatment of various complicated illness and medical procedures such as dialysis bringing down medical expense of poor families drastically. Special schemes are being formulated for the construction and renovation of houses for the homeless and destitute. The debt clearance scheme is a great relief to debt-ridden families to come out of the vulnerability and manage a peaceful life. As the education can change the fortune of the new generation Bairooha has supported lot of students from marginalised section to improve their studies and to achieve their career ambitions. The marriage assistance scheme was beneficial to show fresh path of life to the needy girls in the area. The contribution of Bairooha in developing public infrastructures is very much remarkable. Apart from these initiatives the Foundation is seriously making in the life of hundreds of people through its Monthly Assistance programme and annual Ramadhan Kit distribution. Its generous contributions in renovating the casually unit of General Hospital at Thalassery and in setting up of BUDS rehabilitation centre at Eranjoli and a dental department at Kadiroor Public Health Centre are example of how an organisation be part of building necessary public infrastructure to address the emerging need of the society. .

During the COVID 19 pandemic, Foundation has contributed in its own way by conducting a number of health programmes, distributing food kits for most needy, collectivising to pandemic relief effort of other organisations. To summarise, in short period Bairooha Foundation has proved to be a symbol of compassion for most vulnerable sections of the society and a vibrant platform for diverse social interventions.

In its long journey of accomplishments, HOPE Early Intervention Centre stands as a unique intervention under Bairooha to offer multi-disciplinary diagnosis and therapy services for children with development delays/disorders and their families. Findings from the detailed studies conducted by Bairooha for a year through formal channels such PHC and anganwadi workers has exposed the inevitability of such early centre in our locality. The interviews conducted with medical professionals, social workers, and people with special needs and their care takers pointed out the need for systematic intervention to address the vulnerabilities of disability. Absence of any advanced interdisciplinary therapy centre under government as well as the unaffordability of therapy services for poor people made Bairooha to pitch in and start a centre with very limited capacity.
